This was the most surreal and majestic moment I've ever experienced: snow in the shuk in Jerusalem. As a freshman, I went on Birthright with Berkeley Hillel in winter 2014. Though I was initially hesitant about the trip, the experience proved undoubtedly life-changing. This photo was taken right before we all danced in the snowy shuk. Vendors closed their shops and joined us dancing, as passers-by slowly integrated themselves into the celebration. To experience such unbridled joy with people who would become life-long friends is a truly cherished memory.

While I have hundreds of photos from my time at Hillel, this moment perfectly captures the friendship, belonging, and community that made me feel at home during my 4 years at Cal. Go Bears! Go Hillel!
